Other factor....it is a SUV...not a limo. So you got to lift your knee another six to twelve inches higher. I would imagine an older guy like him...requiring some type of knee brace, and shifting your leg is more of a pain.
I always have trouble getting into my sister’s Mercedes SUV. The step is too high. But I’m just 5’2”; Joe is taller.
