I’ve never before (I think) commented on my active duty time.
I was 140-145 lb soaking wet and company grade officer. When supported by heavy weapons, I made it a point to hump the 81 mm baseplate. Thank god I had an RTO. I think my load was between 60 and 80 lbs minimum.
I understand that has increased by ca 20 lbs + rucksack in todays infantry.

For as long as i could get away with it, an M14 and my private Colt LW Commander.
Then I got back to my MOS and did mostly TDY in Asia, S and Central America, and Germany.
Knees paid a price, and I’m probably getting lumbar spine work in a few months. Hell, I’m young at 75.
