“The idea that Merrick Garland answers to congress, or that congress could “uncreate” the DOJ is laughable, and has been for decades.”
Just can’t admit that you are wrong. I stated that Congress created the DOJ, and then you said it did not.
Then you went into this thing about which branch of government the DOJ was lodged in. Nothing at all to do with who created the DOJ.
The Congress can, in fact, cancel the DOJ. It has been talked about. Now they probably won’t with today’s Republicans, but they can legally do away with it.
And in fact Garland does answer to Congress; you evidently have not heard that he has been charged with contempt of Congress and the Republicans do have, in fact, the authority to arrest his sorry ass, if only they would do it.
Good points on both sides.
However, the documentation I can find says that there are 3 branches of government.
Executive
Legislative
Judicial
And it says they were created by the Constitution.
Garland being held in contempt of Congress doesn’t prove the Congress created DOJ because anyone can be held in contempt of Congress.
“However, the documentation I can find says that there are 3 branches of government.”
Well aren’t you special.
“Garland being held in contempt of Congress doesn’t prove the Congress created DOJ because anyone can be held in contempt of Congress.”
Yes, and that was not my point; however, the fact that Congress passed the law that created it proves that Congress created the DOJ and it is not in the Constitution as a branch of government. Congress has to approve anyone who is to be appointed Attorney General along with the critical appointees in the Executive branch.
Some conservatives were irate at the little worm House speaker because the refused to not fund parts of the DOJ.
Congress created pretty much all of the departments that fall under the executive. And in theory, which might as well be an alternate universe at this point, they could pass a law, that a President would sign or veto, to disestablish any department.
But as we see for the past few Presidents, the DOJ answers to no one, including the President. The same could be said for several other agencies in the executive branch. That is the reality. Congress disestablishing the DOJ is fantasy.
Yeah l know
That is not a rough prison, government prisoners like a Bannon
Like a retarded kid in the school play.
the fact that Congress passed the law that created it proves that Congress created the DOJ
Congress passed the law (Judiciary Act), but who originated the DOJ? Was it the Attorney General ?
Please understand I am not trying to prove you wrong, or ETCM wrong. I am trying to find out what is true. It has been my experience that very few know the absolute truths in our national history because those who write the historical record tend to lie. Not always intentionally, but the 'truth' is usually not very popular and avoided if possible.
How simple, how wise.
Take them to court for claiming their committee was legit and using it to jail innocent citizens. Then, since they destroyed the evidence which could prove whether the committee was legit (as you stated) or not that they are automatically declared guilty of having an illegitimate committee and abusing the power of their office.
Trapped by their own nefarious plans. Charge them for each person jailed. Since at least one prisoner has died, make sure it is a felony charge.
A fantasy called Disestablishmentarianism. A disease I am afflicted with.
“but who originated the DOJ?”
Congress did, when it passed the enabling law.
Wow! just wow!!! And you accuse me of being retarded.
The House Judiciary Committee on Monday sued Attorney General Merrick Garland in order to obtain the audio tapes of special counsel Robert Hur’s interview of President Joe Biden related to his handling of classified documents after exiting the vice presidency.
The civil action lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Washington requests, among other things, an injunction to order Garland “to produce the audio recordings of the Special Counsel’s interviews with President Biden and Mark Zwonitzer,” the president’s book ghostwriter, to the Republican-lead House Judiciary Committee chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio.
