Luckily, there was a paper trail so the problem was identified and vote tallies corrected.
What happens in jurisdictions where there is no paper trail?
US citizens need to know that every one of their votes were counted, and that their elections cannot be hacked. We need to return to paper ballots to avoid electronic interference with elections.

People should show up to the polls, fill out the paper ballot, and get their thumb dipped in blue dye. Every ballot (with voter identifying features removed)should be scanned and made freely available to the public.

Most of the stuff I have seen seems to be using electronic machines to scan paper ballots.

The voting machines in Georgia can be hacked in less than a minute - it’s been demonstrated several times.
we just moved to Iowa from Illinois and voted in the primary. We signed in, showed our ID and voted with a paper ballet.
