I love that trilogy
The book is better. It’s Catholic theology made for the secular mind. It’s an incredibly deep book. Peter Jackson did an amazing job, imo, but he doesn’t come anywhere near what Tolkien was trying to teach in his books.
Tolkien said his book was unfilmable and it is, at least to a faithful extent. The reason it is unfilmable is not because of the world that Tolkien created or that it takes place in a fantasy world. It’s unfilmable because of the spirituality within the book.
I really do recommend that everybody read it at least once.
