We have a theme park in the Pittsburgh area over a century old that features Mr. Roger's neighborhood. The rides are decent, the food and beverages are only slightly overpriced. There is a water park included for the price of admission. Parking is free. People actually spend almost as much time on the rides as they do waiting in line.
I really don't understand why people will pay triple or more to spend most of their time waiting in line at a Disney Park.

I really don't understand why people will pay triple or more to spend most of their time waiting in line at a Disney Park. This is an interesting question and one which highlights a contradiction in our human nature. Of course, no one enjoys or looks forward to standing in long lines once one arrives at the park. However, the real excitement is largely felt beginning weeks before from the thought of going there, and perhaps not so much being there, with the endlessly long lines, the crowds, and the constant nickel and diming. The ecstasy is in more in the anticipation, rather than the thing itself.

I spent many summer days at Idlewild. I liked the old swimming pool on the island before it became the Soak Zone.
