Most of my family is either here in SoCal or in Israel. Trust me Id LOVE to move to Florida, Id move tomorrow but I dont know anyone, would be weird to just pack up and go somewhere where you know no one and start over
Weird but exciting! I think I’d be miserable if I lived in a state like California. I’m originally from Illinois, and sooooo glad I’m outa there! But I had family in Oklahoma, so it’s not as if I came down here with no connections; that would be scary.
Wasn’t for me; fell in love with Texas 30 years ago, finally was freed up to do it and the wife, son and I up and left. Never looked back.
It is weird, but hubby and I did this 10+ years ago, as empty nesters. We joke that we only know a dozen people in Indiana, our neighbors, and some folks at church. The truth is we probably know maybe 50 people now.
It can be done, but you have to go out of your comfort zone.

Try and find original florida crackers to hangout with.
I live in the Florida Keys now, but have lived in each “corner” of Florida. (Jacksonville, Pensacola, Key West area and Highlands County—in the middle).
From recent travels, Florida is becoming “filled up”, and most Florida newbies live in air-conditioned comfort.
Look into Martin County first, as it seems the most well-run. Radio host Dan Bongino lives there, and raves about the place.
