It still floats, so it's definately not the Titanic. It would make a cool floating hotel. They just never got the funding to get the job done.

Yep. If private funding cannot be found to turn it into a floating hotel, then to the scrapyard she goes. The SS United States is an interesting ship. But it’s not central to the history of the country. So no government funding, please.

Now, if the boat could be found that Washington used to cross the Delaware, that would be a different story.🙂

The last deserving holder of The Blue Riband, an absolutely beautiful piece of naval engineering, and an honorable and historic vessel, but some folks just don’t care about history.

I get it.

It’s that kind of folks that burned the original wood that comprised Fort Edmonton for a Boy Scout Camporee. The mindset being: Only the now matters.

We are doomed with that kind of attitude.
