These people have to be elected so they can’t even do that. Inflation will go higher as they print more money to pay for SS, but they will be forced to keep raising SS to account for that. It is a vicious cycle that can’t be escaped but is inevitable due to how a Democracy works.
The people that will be most harmed are the young people who will fall further behind, while the old vote themselves the treasury.
