The draft ran from 1940 thru 1973 it was for WWII and then mostly Russia since WWII, there wasn’t a specific draft for Korea or Vietnam, it was merely continuous for 33 years.

....... NOPE ..... Before this ruling .... All male US citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.

..... As far as I know .... The only change is ..... They extended the age range to 26.

currently, there is no moral, wise, ethical reason to join the military....only reason would be pay and pension....

therefore, I am against this automatic sign up...

I think that was fairly common, guys who were uncertain about serving and also being occupied with just being young often just let the fates decide for them, ‘if they got called they went, if they didn’t get called they didn’t went’.
