Trump endorses Larry Hogan to represent Maryland in the Senate

Article Dig Deeper Former President Donald Trump endorsed former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan for the U.S. Senate on Thursday, despite Hogan urging voters to respect Trump's verdict in his New York hush money case.

Trump was convicted of 34 charges related to a hush money payment he made to former porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and is expected to appeal the verdict and his subsequent sentence. He will be sentenced on July 11.

The former president said that he was personally "about the party" and the country, and would like to see Hogan win the Senate seat in November. Hogan is running as a Republican, and was elected governor as a Republican. But he has faced pushback from party members over his stances on abortion.

“Yeah, I’d like to see him win. I think he has a good chance to win,” Trump told a Fox News reporter. “We gotta take the majority. We have to straighten out our country. So I’d like to see him win. He’s somebody that can win … I know other people made some strong statements, but I can just say from my standpoint, I’m about the party and I’m about the country."

Hogan, whose campaign later told the reporter he would not be supporting Trump, previously vowed that he would not vote for Trump in November and would vote for a third party candidate instead. Hogan previously endorsed Nikki Haley for the Republican nomination when she was still in the race.

It matters not. Either way, i’m not represented.

Very sorry I ever voted for him. Tough to wash the stink off.

Lardy Hogan won’t get my vote.

Hogan’s people blocked me on fakebook years ago as I asked the Governor why he didn’t tell the Superintendant of the State Police to end the purely subjective and prima facie unconstitutional “sufficient cause” limitation on issuing concealed carry permits.

Hogan said he couldn’t do that. Didn’t have that control.

After SCOTUS’ Bruen decision in 2023, he bragged about calling the State Police and told them to do exactly what he had said - repeatedly - he couldn’t.

Turns out he just wouldn’t and he had the discretionary authority to do this all the entire time he was governor but the ONLY people getting concealed carry permits in Maryland were still lawyers, the wealthy and politically well-connected individuals across the state - but NOT ordinary citizens - until he did what he LIED about and said he couldn’t do.

Hogan isn’t a RINO so much as a progressive in RINO drag.

F**k him, f**k Maryland. We’re outta here in 3 months.

On one hand, it would be slightly helpful to have a Republican senator, but on the other hand, he’s going to make Romney look like a MAGA patriot.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

What if hogan had his “nancy mace moment”?

She was originally elected from a purple district & arrived in DC as a Rino

Last week she won the repub primary & the past 4 years it seems she has become more conservative

Vance has made a similar transition.

Maybe there’s hope for hogan vs NO hope for a MD Dem to ever come to their senses.

Trump please stay away from the Senate. It is a snake pit. Just stay clear of it altogether for now.

If the army is full of traitors and malcontents then those need to be eliminated first. That is the army you want.

I’m a lifelong Marylander. I’ll vote for Hogan.

I left that fetid state years ago. You should too.

If you are a "conservative" and you live in states like MD or MA you are living in enemy territory. You have relegated yourself to spectator status. Keep you mouth shut, fly under the radar and make sure your employer, "friends" and neighbors don't know who you really are. Unless you move to a red state you will be best served staying quiet and shutting the hell up.

I get it. I live in purple VA. We get good conservative candidates that run for Senate. Sd such I would never vote for a RINO like Hogan. The rest of the red usa is trying to push a working class MAGA take over of the R party. Sending RINOs from blue states does not help.

I know how you feel...I would vote for the R also.

Maybe we can handle him, after all Romney is leaving and this putz can take his place.

Assuming Trump becomes President next year and he wants to nominate Ken Paxton of Texas as his Attorney General. It is probable that the next U.S. Senate will have a Republican majority; even some Democrats will concede that as likely. A Senator Larry Hogan, along with Murkowski and Snowe, and possibly Cornyn due to the feud between the former and Paxton, will oppose the nomination. I don't know enough about Maryland politics to know if a third party conservative can win, but it would be worth a try.

“So the ongoing debate continues, as to whether conservatives should vote for a more liberal Republican, to prevent a liberal Democrat from winning an election, or sit out or vote Democrat, to try to punish the Republican party and teach the party a lesson.”

“There are some people who would have you so stand on principle that if you don’t get all that you’ve asked for, you jump off the cliff with the flag flying...I believe half a loaf is better than none and that...you’re not going to always get everything you want.” - Reagan 1983

It’s a great situation for dems. 2 party system, 2 democrats on the ballot (one dem & one republican). The dems do this when their policies are so odious as to threaten their control in certain areas. Gotta keep that access to the public trough.

Maryland is a funny state isnt it. Up here in carroll, we’re pretty conservative. But we end up represented by a stupid democrat because the legislature was allowed to jerrymander all the way to the DC line to set us blue. So the reason why maryland is twisted is because it’s generally a conservative state that’s intoxicated with idiot democrats from DC. So in that weakened condition the best we can do here to help with the senate is to vote in a dog like hogan. That’s the best you’re going to get from these morons.

Now, I am impressed with this strategy that Trump’s executing. Trumps endorsement of Hogan was met with scorn from the Hogan camp. That puts Hogan in a very good position with the stupid maryland voters. He can say “sure trump endorsed me, but I intend to still be a pain in the butt mccain maverick! I will vote for the sane democrat bills and keep a check on that bad old orange man.” Maryland voters will say “yeahhh... that sounds so awesome.” and pull the handle. If he wins that seat then the senate has a much better chance to turn red. I detect that behind close doors, Hogan said to trump, “don’t take it personally, it’s just what i gotta say to have any chance in this stupid state.” Trump responds... “It’s all good, lets do this.”

Are you here just to cause disruption?

I have seen posts referring to where leftists are here doing that.

Why are you against Trump’s effort to unite for a great November?

To elect Biden?
