J.D. Vance, Senate Republicans Announce Blockade of Biden Nominees to Protest ‘Radical Lawfare’ Against Trump

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Senate Republicans on Thursday announced a hold policy on numerous President Joe Biden nominees in response to the 46th president’s “radical lawfare” against former President Donald Trump and other political opponents.

Vance led an effort alongside Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and Eric Schmitt (R-MO) to block swift confirmation of roughly four dozen of Biden’s nominees throughout various positions of the government.

This includes judicial nominees, a nominee for deputy undersecretary for the Treasury Department, and a general counsel nominee for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).

Under the blockade, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would have to waste significant time to confirm the nominees.

The announcement comes as Trump is expected to meet with House and Senate Republicans on Thursday.

The Senate Republicans said in a joint written statement:

In a continuing response to the current administration’s persecution of President Donald Trump, we will not allow the fast-tracking of any Biden Article III court judicial nominees, as well as Biden U.S. attorney nominations. Further, we will not permit the fast-tracking of nominees who have suggested the Trump prosecutions were reasonable, endorsed President Trump’s guilt in these sham proceedings, joined or supported organizations that celebrated the indictment of President Trump, supported the “get-Trump” candidacy of Alvin Bragg, or supported lawfare or censorship in other ways. This complement to the pledge of May 31 will last until Election Day, when the American people will have the opportunity to decisively reject attempts to settle political disputes through the legal system.

While it is not our intent to bring any single nominee into disrepute, if our rights are challengedon the floor of the U.S. Senate, we will prosecute a...

If he picks a deepstate stooge, he will be killed or put in jail within the first year.

But at least you will be able to defend your vote to your country club friends.

Show me someone who thinks we can moderate our way out of the tyranny we are under and I will show you someone who doesn’t understand the stakes.

Trump needs a heavy duty shop vac as VP. DC needs to be pressure washed and flushed.

Sadly, it’s clear that you don’t understand what a distinct and diminishing minority you are in.

Being a suicidal “conservative” makes you...NOT a conservative.

That’s why I am WAAAAAY to the Right of you, or pretty much anyone on this forum.

People, and especially politicians, who abandon morality for power always use it for their self-advancement, at the expense of the weak.

You sidestepped my question.

Why are you saying EV won’t support Vance as VP?

Note it isn’t the leadership and the usual GOP pukes, but newer members of the senate. Undoubtedly the McConnells, Grahams and McRomneys will condemn such ungentlemanly behavior, it’s just so uncouth to do this to their good colleagues and friends across the aisle.

I like JDV ideologically - don’t get me wrong on that. He’s quick, and knows that the best defense is a good offense.

IMHO, Democrat fraud notwithstanding, Trump will likely not win in November unless he draws votes (even a few percent will do it) from the middle. The best way to do that in this political environment is to choose a VP who will appeal to those who throw currently shade at Trump for the (albeit misunderstood) cliche perceptions they have about him, but might be willing to listen. The VP has to help expand the base.

The battleground states have razor-thin margins either way, measured in mere tenths of a percent. IMHO, JDV does not expand the base. Suburban housewives won’t move to him. Blacks won’t move to him. Hispanics won’t move to him.

He’s ideologically as solid as any of the prospects. But he doesn’t excite voters in the middle. That’s my gut. That’s my opinion.

“Bachmann? Too much MTG in her. One’s enough.”

################

I don’t think we could ever have too many MTG’s around. I’d love too see 300 of her in the House!

I see Bachmann as more polished and refined than MTG, though. She’s now Dean of a law school (Regent Univ). The fire in her is now refined (not diminished) so that she knows what to say and how to say it. More of a cutting torch than a flamethrower.

Linda Graham is not going to like this. He loves to confirm those Biden nominees.

I think Glen Youngkin would be the best choice and draw the most votes for Trump. He’s a successful governor and proves he can win.

Trump won in a landslide in 2024. All polls are worthless as the underestimate his support and overestimate Pedo Joe’s. The polls are the massive crowds he draws.

Blacks won’t move to him. Hispanics won’t move to him.

You are wrong buddy.

He is polling at 25% among blacks and even higher among Hispanics.

Not because he is pandering to them but because they think he is a macho badass.

Sometimes doing the right things and saying the truth is good enough. You don't need all the woke wishy-washy demagogue bullshit to try and convince people.

There is literally nothing he could do to get suburban housewives. He could pick Oprah, Whoopie or Ellen and it wouldn't help with that group.

Being genuine MAGA will get him enough votes to win (assuming they don't steal it again, jail him or kill him).

“He (JDV) is polling at 25% among blacks and even higher among Hispanics”.

###############

But so is Trump. Hence, no NEW voters.

If you can show me that Vance polls better among minorities than Trump, I’ll listen.

Until then, I think his optimal choice is either Sarah Sanders or Byron Donalds.
