By my personal experience, the problem has been around since 1960.
I grew up in a diocese that was like a coven for the pedarists. From the bishop to the local pastor.
Forty years later, we got a new priest at our parish in the next town over. I listened to the guy talk for ten seconds. I leaned over to my wife and said, “He is a diddler.”
Sure enough, a month later the stories came out about this clown and he was “moved” to a church on Cape Cod, where he shared a house with his “good friend.”
The faggotry ruined the church. Good for the Pope for calling it out.
