I take no pleasure in this verdict. He owned a gun while he was struggling with drugs, yet he never used it to commit any crime. The premise is that it was a crime because owning the gun could potentially be used in a crime. How far could they stretch that if you were considered a domestic terrorist because you pledged allegiance to your country, and advocated for it to be a nation that followed Judeo-Christian standards? The other part is, that Joe bears a big responsibility for this. He never reigned his kid in, set limits for him, in fact did the opposite, pushed him into situations that were most likely criminal and dangerous, but Joe was OK with Hunter being his bagman as long as the Big Guy got 10%.

I have to agree with you here. Society has looked for ways to criminalize everything so you can’t possess a gun without breaking the law. If someone is so dangerous that they can’t have a firearm, especially a rifle, then they don’t belong out on the street. Think about that, they put people out with available: torches, tools, cars, planes, knives, baseball bats, and all matter of chemicals to make explosives, but they restrict firearms. It doesn’t make sense, unless the government no longer wants an armed public.

IMHO, we need to start enforcing existing gun laws before passing any new ones.

Every time someone commits a violent crime with a gun then the feds need to pull their ATF Form 4473 from when they purchased the gun (assuming they didn’t steal it). If they lied on the form then prosecute them for it. If someone has a felony criminal record and lies on their application form we should be able to flag them immediately and prosecute them. If a drug addict like Hunter Biden lies on his application form and is later caught in possession of illegal drugs then prosecute him.

The Sutherland Springs Church shooter lied about not having any violent criminal convictions when he bought several guns. If they had flagged and prosecuted him then he never would have been able to shoot almost 50 people.

He lied on a federal gun form. I don’t know if you have ever bought guns. I have. It is stated very clearly that it is a federal crime to lie, punishable by fine and/or jail time. I, and any other ordinary citizen who would lie on the 4473 form would be looking at serious consequences. Somehow, Hunter thought he was “protected”.

He wasn’t. If you’re saying that citizens shouldn’t have to go through these hoops that the govt makes us go through- I’m with you, but that’s just the way it is.

I disagree. The charge involved is lying on an affidavit to ACQUIRE a gub while being a drug addict. The lie was a deliberate act. The addiction, probably not. But it is not his addiction that is the issue - it is the lie on an affidavit.

WHAT pisses me & others off:

JOE CLAIMS “HUNTER IS SMARTEST MAN HE KNOWS”.

LAWYER ABBE LOWELL CLAIMS “FORM IS VERY CONFUSING”.

MILLIONS OF AMERICANS HAVE FILLED OUT THAT FORM——FOR MANY YEARS.

IT IS NOT CONFUSING IF YOU ARE NOT ON DRUGS & USED TO LYING ABOUT EVERYTHING.

I agree with you.

The law under which he was convicted is blatantly unconstitutional and should be nullified. If that argument lets Hunter Biden off the hook after the case is appealed, I am fine with that. But only if it nullifies the convictions of thousands of other people. Let the storm of appeals flood the courts.

There are plenty of other real and serious criminal activities for which Biden is certainly guilty. They did not go after him for those offenses. And they never will.

"Because it is not a crime when a Democrat does it."

Government officials simply do not want ordinary citizens to be armed with any weapon or resist criminal predation in any way. The Constitution be dammed. This is an old problem which the Democrats continue to make worse. They do that because they benefit from doing that.

This is not a system under which we can continue to live.

Democrats must be removed from their offices. All offices. All Democrats.
