Maybe, legal fees for multiple appeals are an issue, but I suspect not something he worries about. Rethinking my post as I wrote the last, remembering an appeal will last post election when Joe can pardon him, maybe the judge will sentence him like anyone else. After forcing a trial rather than acknowledging guilt, that might justify some jail time. I suppose it's not the judge's job to worry about the cost and inconvenience of secret service protection for an inmate.
