When will Kristi realize that insisting on a woman (or a black or an Indian or a (fill-in-the-blank)) rather than the smartest person is a recipe for disaster. (Think about Kamalala Harris.) The Vice President has two AND only two Constitutional duties, the first to be the President of the Senate, the second becoming President or acting President when called upon to do so.
I long for the days when the Vice President spent his days doing is job and presiding over the Senate. (Yes, even some of those VPs were pretty sorry souls—LBJ comes to mind.)
When I was a teenager, Vaughn Meader released his album The First Family. President Kennedy was presiding over a cabinet meeting. After a few cabinet members had spoken, the voice of LBJ said, “I’d like to say something if I might.” to which Meader as the voce of JFK responded, “Must you, Lyndon?”
