A massive residential tower in California will provide homeless people with a swanky new living space and luxury amenities, including a café, gym and TV lounge.

The 19-story tower, which is set to open this month in Los Angeles' Skid Row neighborhood, will provide sprawling views of downtown and the San Gabriel Mountains, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"We’re trying to make our little corner of the world look and feel a little better," Weingart Center Assn. Chief Executive and President Kevin Murray told the outlet.

Murray, who devised the plan, launched it in 2018 alongside the affordable housing developer Chelsea Investment Corp. The tower will become the largest permanent supportive housing project in Los Angeles.

So why should people keep a job when they can just quit and have all there needs met by the government?

Wow, how brilliant is California, to arrive at this spectacular solution to their homeless problem??

Because we ALL know how GIVING SOMETHING, for free, to people really insures they’ll turn their lives around, straighten themselves out, get training/education, good paying jobs and leave this free room and board community, in record time, for any others in need.

Yeah ... sounds like a(nother) drug induced pipe dream, CA.

the socialist dream comes to life. “From each according to his ability to each according to his needs”! the homeless NEED the same amenities as the “homed” but can’t quite swing the cash for a place to live SO what is so wrong with those with “the ability” to supply the needs of those who have no ability? “marx and engles wrote in the communist manifesto “from each according to his ability to each according to his needs” but our Americanized version is “from those who can and do to those who could but won’t, why SHOULD they when they can employ the police power of government to TAKE it from those who can and do then GIVE IT to those who could...but won’t”” L.Star

Will the tower have a first aid center to handle the victims of attacks by homeless people? A morgue in the basement might be a good idea, too.

It will open. It will fill. Then the day comes when it’s too dangerous for maintenance teams to enter the building for all the crazy. And then it’s condemned. Years later the property will be bought. The building razed. And something new and productive will occupy the space.

Excellent prediction on your part.

I knew a guy who was contracted to make repairs in a large Section 8 apartment building. The residents would tear things up, steal the copper pipes, etc. My friend would be called. He’d make the repairs. The residents would tear up the repairs. It was an endless loop.

Finally my friend stopped going there. It was getting too dangerous. A few years later the whole building was torn down.
