Sen. Rand Paul 'supportive,' but hasn't endorsed former President Donald Trump
Spectrum News ^ | June 5 | BY ERIN KELLY

WASHINGTON — Like every other Kentucky Republican on Capitol Hill, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., criticized the New York criminal case that ended in a guilty verdict for former President Donald Trump.

Paul posted on social media, “This verdict will tragically undermine Americans’ confidence in impartial justice. A sad day for America.”

Yet unlike Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and most of the commonwealth’s Republican congressmen, Paul said he has not yet decided whether to endorse Trump.

“I think that it’s important that if he wants to get my vote and my support and wants me to be more active in this, that he’s going to have to be more vocal on things like the lockdowns that I opposed, like the civil liberties abuses that I opposed, like the debt, which frankly, has been bad under Republicans and Democrats, so I’m looking for a little bit more before I make a final decision,” he told Spectrum News Tuesday.

“I’m supportive of Donald Trump, but whether or not I take an active role, endorse and go out and campaign for him is something that’s yet to be determined.”

Pres. Trump has shown - to my satisfaction - that he fully understands how he was manipulated by Fauci and Birx and the vast pro-Chicom elite, and is already taking steps to ensure a better cadre of assistants than the permanent bureaucracy provides.

To my mind, Sen. Paul is 100% is justified playing ‘wait and see’ - for now. But he damn well knows there is no worthy alternative anywhere in sight. And Trump’s advisors need to pull Paul into Trump’s orbit, and not with mere word-play.

The situation is as serious as it gets. And there are no sidelines; only a very dangerous playing field. So, take the field, pick a speck of turf and defend it.

Why do I get the feeling you are referring to Mark Wayne.

Dear Rand Fan:

Like you I think very highly of Rand. I was pushing him for the VP slot-not now. Just read between the lines. He’s telling Trump to come to him. Trump doesn’t work that way. He’s a good enough listener to where Rand should not infer that he wants Trump to kiss his behind beforehand.

There are a lot of good, informed opinions ere. Glad you posted it.

IMHO for the sake of the country there is no other choice than Trump.

I had to look up Mark Wayne. He’s certainly no Bruce Wayne.

Trump knows things that Rand Paul does not know. In time he will be enlightened.

Well said. He is right about the issues he cites. But he knows that Democrats must be defeated. He is doing his part in his own way.

Rand needs to stay in his lane. Think Linda’s comments after Roe was overturned. We have to be wary of those we approve. Grandstanding is a bit disingenuous.

I repeat: in 2017 when I was at Trump Tower with Steve Bannon we discussed Senate allies.

Randy wasn’t one.

Trump, hoax impeached twice in just 4 short years of public office, would have had 3 or 4 more impeachments had he gone against ‘Science’...

Rand isn’t MAGA enough for me..
He’s spent way too much time in the Co Owned Swamp to be preachy..

Rand Paul supports Trump, so let's get that straight to begin with. He has leverage right now, which we don't. He was commitments on issues or wants a deal. I wish we all had the same.

Action on Fauci. Sure, throw him and his gang in jail. Does anyone on FR not agree with criticism of Fauci?!

What else does Rand Paul want? The article, and I broke FR tradition by opening and reading the link, does not say?

If I had Rand Paul's leverage, I'd ask for the following:

Get a commitment to deport 60 million illegals.

Get a commitment to build the entire wall, not just another 200 miles that Trump is now promising.

Get a commitment to cut off countries like India and China that don't take back deportees as Trump 1.0 promised.

Get a commitment to end H1B not again increase them as Trump 1.0 did.

Get a commitment to send H1B home, not let them stay as Trump 1.0 did.

Get a commitment to implement E-Verify.

Get a commitment to fire all appointees and not let them stay as Trump 1.0 did.

Maybe, specifically, for Rand Paul, a commitment to support for him to replace McConnell.

Yes, I'm sure most of us support Trump, but getting him to actually do what we want is not directly possible for most of us. Pending more details on what he is asking for, I'm not going to criticize Rand Paul for using the leverage he has.

I have faith that Trump will address his concerns.

He’s negotiating. There’s something he wants.

Exactly!

The Senate, House, AND the President are responsible for the debt. I blame them all as any one of them could have said No, used that No vote to get change. If Rand Paul accomplishes nothing more than reduce the debt, that would be great for the country.

Well good luck with that. 95 big spenders in the Senate and 410 in the house but the President should run on cuts. That’s why Rand got 1% of the vote when he ran. I’m sure if you could find the numbers to cut Trump would sign it but why shoot yourself in the foot during the campaign for something you almost certainly won’t be able to do while in office. Romney and Ryan ran on cuts to SS and they got destroyed by Obama.

Romney was dominioned in Ohio and Florida in ‘12 most likely.

Mentioning social security cuts during an election is a sure way to lose. That's not what needs cuts, well not directly. If they were to reign in the fraud and all of the extra goodies to extra people that were not part of social security that would save it. Plus, repay social security for the funds diverted to other stuff.

We need cuts across government, the little things like PBS, they all add up.

I absolutely agree. Media stopped polling and explicitly stopped exit polling to conceal the steal, Romney seemed to give up in the weeks before hand, maybe recognizing what was happening. I recall a post-election comment from him about wanting to stay above it all, that he couldn't or didn't want to fight it. Trump beat it first time, lost to the steal the second time. I hope they are going to do more that a few second-rate attorneys and lip service about it all this time around.

PDJT should offer the VP to Rand Paul. He’d earn my enthusiastic support.

Is Rand a leading figure in American politics? I always thought that he was better or at least sounded better than most GOP drones but I have to ask, what has he actually accomplished? The entire American political system is going down and going down fast. President Trump is about to be jailed, many Americans are today political prisoners. As a Senator what has he done exactly?
