How many wars did those generals win?

Lincoln ran against his failed general George B. McClellan in 1864 if I remember correctly.

I’m reminded of Lincoln’s response to news stories quoting General Hooker as publicly stating during the Civil War that the country might need a dictator and that he would be the one. Lincoln said “if so, he’d be the only general who became a dictator after not winning a single battle. If he wins a battle, I will risk his taking over as dictator.”
