Team USA pulled off one of the greatest upsets in cricket history on Thursday. They defeated powerhouse Pakistan by five runs in the T20 World Cup, shocking the rest of the sport.
The match went to a super over, a tiebreaker in cricket, and Team USA recorded 18 runs. Pakistan needed 19 for the win but were held to just 13 runs. To make the upset even more special, it happened on United States soil in Dallas, Texas.
The T20 World Cup features the 20 best teams in the world, and Team USA now leads Group A following its massive upset of Pakistan. The rest of that group consists of India, Canada, and Ireland.
Team USA will try to keep its magic alive against another daunting opponent in India. That match will take place on June 12 as group play continues.
I’d be willing to bet the entire US team is of Indian (dot) heritage.
And you know all the Indians are doubly thrilled because it was against Pakistan.
A lot of them have Indian names.
Might be some from the Windies as well.
I get along with my Indian co-workers, because I can actually talk Cricket with them.
There’s nothing like The Ashes, which is the series of Test Matches between Australia and England.
While the US becomes more like Pakistan whose former prime minister (Imran Khan) is sitting in jail
Did any of them work at Duncan donuts and have a slight Indian accent?
Yeah, I always root for the Windies, but they aren’t what they were back in the 70s. I watched some videos, they had some real nasty bowlers back then.
Biggest upset of all time.
A lot of Pakistanis have Indian names.
It’s reminiscent of when the US beat England in the 1950 soccer World Cup.
Biden, is that you?
Who is the redheaded dude they cropped in?
I know. I’m Australian raised in Canada. I went to an England Australia match at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1988. It was a fun time back when I followed sports. Nowadays the only sports news I read is here on FR. The NBA and NHL finals are on now. There was a time I’d be glued to the tube watching them and getting hyped for the Olympics. No longer the case. This news about the US cricket team made me smile however.
IT’S 1980 ALL OVER AGAIN !!!
What is cricket?
Get Joe Kelly to bowl
Cricket has a silly side and a bunch of googlys.
Is a beard a requiremen ?
