Here we are in an election year, and even though most voters don't have any clue who their representative in Congress is until they see an election ballot -- and they certainly have no idea what he does there -- incumbents are wary of their congressional voting record being used against them in the campaign, and so they often try to "moderate" their record to avoid accusations of extremism.
The vast majority of the time, it is Republicans who must be the most wary and who do the most moderating. The liberal media, and of course Democrat candidates and RINOs who are running to an incumbent's left in a primary, will gladly use whatever ammunition is available against a conservative. It is a rare case that a liberal Democrat -- even in the most marginal of districts -- must concern herself even slightly about accusations of being "too liberal".
That is true in nearly all election years. But apparently not 2024.
Our analysis of congressional voting data from Voteview which runs through May 23 shows that numerous Democrats are the ones who are panicking and running hysterically towards the center, while even the squishiest House Republicans suddenly have grown at least a small amount of backbone and are standing united most of the time. This behavior, on both sides, is unprecedented in recent years.

The degree to which many House Democrats are running away from their usual liberal voting record and towards a more centrist position -- regardless of how much of a charade that may be -- belies a significant lack of confidence in their re-election chances. That lack of confidence hopefully exists for good reason.
Faking toward the middle. Distancing themselves from their radical Left component.
No different than “Republicans” drifting to the Right, come election time. Telling their voters that they are Red Blooded Conservatives.
They feel they can’t tell their voters that they’re just a greedy, conniving, POS that is there to get rich and make their friends and donors rich. IE...all but 3 or 4 Republican Senators and all but 7 or 8 House Reps. All lying frauds.
Sadly, the voters have been lulled into thinking that they have no choice. Look at Phelan, in Texas. Turnout was a disgrace and he was re-elected because of Democrats. I’ll bet that constituents hate him, but they feel like they have no power to get rid of him. Maybe. But staying home doesn’t change anything
And then, of course, the GOP machines...federal, state and county levels...will do their best to not allow an unapproved person to challenge the handpicked POS.
Not running scared, jut faking it...

when their fraud will ‘win’ for them, again.
Democrats have only two choices during elections:
Run on the issues and tell the truth and lose...
or lie their asses off and use fraudulent votes and WIN.
They do not have enough intelligence to recognize that their policies don’t work or cause harm.
Democrats LIE AND CHEAT, ITS WHAT THEY DO.

What you say is true, but this behavior is still unprecedented for Democrats as far as I can tell.
They did not do this in 2022 or 2020 (when they lost seats in the House). They did not do it during the GOP landslides of 2010 and 2014. It absolutely was not a thing in 1994, but the Democrats in the House in 1994 are hardly comparable to those who are there today.
The Rats may be confident that these legislative votes really don’t matter at all, but if they were really so confident about their re-election chances why would they even bother with this kabuki theater stuff? Maybe they’re just bored.
