Biden Uses D-Day 80th Anniversary Speech to Attack Putin, Defend Democracy
Breitbart ^ | 06/06/2024 | JOEL B. POLLAK

President Joe Biden used his speech at commemorations of the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France, to attack Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “tyrant,” and to urge the world to “save democracy in our time.”

The latter statement evoked Biden’s rhetoric on the campaign trail, where he has cast former President Donald Trump as an enemy of democracy. (Trump spoke at the 75th anniversary of D-Day in 2019 in a widely-hailed speech.)

In his remarks on Russia, Biden hailed the example of the Allies in the Second World War — neglecting to mention that Soviet Russia was a key ally in the fight against the Axis powers — and saying that NATO continued that effort.

They were an evil empire being led by the worst white mass murderer in history, we didn’t like them and it was a war time acceptance only.

In the last 2 years Stalin and the Communists are being turned into our great friends and heroes here at FR.

It was an ugly necessity of war, the nastiest relationship we have hever tolerated and one that quickly turned into what it really was, the free world against the evil of Communist Russia.

I just don’t like Biden or anyone else trying to equate what those men did on June 6, 1944 with the idea that another generation of American soldiers could be called on to do the same thing, this time versus Russia.

To me they are 2 separate issues.

I heard that Zelensky was there also.

My bet is that Biden went to France to make another deal with Ukraine with the D Day ceremonies as a side show to him.

He is that callous.

Read this book, probably gives the best information I have ever read on the German-Soviet Conflict and it change your perception of the Eastern Front War.

That is correct about the supplies. But Patton was functionally a lunatic when he said we should launch a war with Russia.
At that moment, the Red Army was damned tough and huge. Had we attacked them, that would have been a brutal battle with probably double the casualties we had already suffered. We would nearly certainly have seen mutinies break out
.
Imagine fighting the nazi armies all the way across Europe, and when the Germans collapse, now we have to team up with those same hated krauts and attack a very tough ally.

And for extra fun, the nuclear bomb was not ready yet, and Japan was still waiting to be invaded and subdued. Patton was a genius when it came to cavalry operations and tank warfare. But he was a blithering idiot on this land war with the USSR, and on religion. He believed he was reincarnated several times and fought in Roman Legions.

I suspect anyone thinking we needed to gather up all the Germans we could and refight the eastern front after the German defeat was not a grunt.

And in the Civil War, the Czar sent his fleet to New York and California to warn the British of war in case they tried to send troops or fleets to join the Confederacy.
The Brits would have loved to exploit the civil war to destroy America and regain control.

Eventually we did ‘gather up’ Germans against the Soviets. German intel people who knew ALL the Soviet agents (inside the Brits as well, hence our shutting out any aid for their own nuke development. Klaus Fuchs caught was a major reason).
Speaking of the Gehlen network (which Commies today still harp about US taking Gen. Gehlen in, as well as the rocket scientists like Werner von Braun and his teams the ALSOS people got out of Germany).

Timing of Pattons comments were not good, but he, like Churchill was intensely aware of how poor an “ally” the Soviets were, as they were within Brit intel, and directly worked inside the FDR and Truman White House, and inside US major media of the period (Time Magazine and other print media- “journalists” covert). Churchill, post war was politically kicked out once the war was won—by labor union Communists and pals of Lord Halifax (a weasel like no other).

The democrat “historians” leave out the presence of the Tsar’s naval vessels in NY Harbor and in San Franscisco though the democrats still try to associate the Republican party with “Russia, Russia”. It’s a genetic narrative inherited from 1863.

They also leave out the fact that the Union Navy shelled downtown NYC against the draft riots. Bombardment. Because the inner workings of Tammany supported supported the Union, while also, supporting slavery. The Gangs of New York (the book, not the movie) documents the diaspora of the Gangs and the politics of the day. Irish came off the ships as immigrants and quickly drumhead drafted into the Union Army. Really quite something. Southern Irish wondered why they were shooting their “own” (and blamed the Brits, from 1778)

Wow... did not know that! And I’ll check out that Gangs of New York book. As an aside, a lot of the men who died with Custer were new arrival Irish.
A Tom Cruise movie “Far and Away” paints a picture of what it meant to be Irish immigrating to America. From a tough life in Ireland, to very tough New York, and then on into the west.
