If that is all they are going after on him, it may be a set up. Throw Heller/Bruen at the charges and watch Hunter walk on everything else as well...
Drugs, under age prostitution, molesting his Niece, tax evasion, influence peddling...
And they go after him on a GUN charge? I am a 2A zealot. This is the ONLY charge they should have dropped.
Time signatures on his many many drug taking escapades- coincide with the date of swearing his Form 4473. IOW a complete provable lie. Mandatory 5 years federal statute. No way around that. Most folks don’t know how serious the 4473s are— should they ever be accessed as in this case.
If Hunter ever comes up on any other charges (prostitution, influence peddling, 10% to his dad, etc.), perhaps any evidence on his computer they could claim was not admissible as it wasn't part of the gun warrant, but was viewed by the prosecution, perhaps even altered or corrupted.
Maybe what could be pretty minor gun charges was their way of getting rid of other evidence of bigger crimes?
