These Journals are very specialized and VERY expensive.

We used to pay big bucks for them because they contained valuable and vital information.

Now they are increasingly filled with politicized garbage and shoddy/falsified results. You can get that from CNN fake news for free so why pay the exorbitant price for fake science.

Medical journals have long run on an accommodating honor system that permitted unethical researchers and authors to game and subvert the limited internal verification by publishers.

The paper mills simply took those tactics and made them into industrial scale fraud. Now that the problem cannot be ignored, the publishers have to clean house or suffer financial losses and various forms of government oversight and litigation.

I believe that the paper mill problem is solvable, and the good news is that other longstanding abuses like data manipulation and outright scientific research fraud are also likely to be addressed along the way. As it happens, this might also eventually help to clean up climate science. Or at least one can hope.

The article seems to focus on “paper mills” where very flawed papers get published. It doesn’t mention the many papers that are written by “worthy scientists” where the results are subtly tweaked to match the prevailing beliefs so as to get funding. Climate “science” would fit into this category.

One of the biggest scams was the B$ re our so called dangerous fat/lipid levels.

Just go on the med diet and focus on the local fresh fruits and veggies..Walk when you can and forget the negative B$ers and a$$holes in your life.

I just got back my worthless lipid panel, as required annually for someone over 50 in my health provider group. I’m in my mid 80’s.
