Dershowitz to Newsmax: Trump Needs to Fire His Lawyers
Newsmax ^ | Mark Swanson

Posted on 05/30/2024 7:18:09 PM PDT by joesbucks

“I'm going to predict that the first thing Trump does is fire his lawyers, which he should have done before the trial rather than after the trial," Dershowitz said on "The Record With Greta Van Susteren."

His lawyers did not do a good job. And what worries me, as an appellate lawyer, is that they didn't do a good job preserving the record for appeal. They focused exclusively on the trial, which is what many trial lawyers erroneously do," Dershowitz said. "But you can't win an appeal if the lawyers below didn't create a record for appeal. And they didn't do that here, particularly the missing witness, the issue of, the failure to allow the expert witness to testify."

Didn’t matter how good or bad Trump’s lawyers were. The trial was rigged by the corrupt judge and biased jury from the get go.

For the jury verdict? You are correct. For the appeal? there is a lot of difference it could make.

Jesus could have been Trumps lead attorney and we would have gotten the same verdict. This was a carefully orchestrated plan and not a trial.

"DO NOT CONTACT OR REPLY TO ME. THIS IS LONG ESTABLISHED."

I thought you were over that stupid $hit. Guess not, your loss. Pretty soon, no one will want to reply to you, because of your schizoid personality.

From what I understand, Trump has trouble getting lawyers because nobody wants to rep him as it’s the communist state of NY. I don’t know, just an opinion I read

Yes. You have to object on the record during the trial, even if the other party effectively has the issue excluded from trial. Otherwise, you have to request an interlocutory appeal (appeal to a higher court) if it is something that will affect the outcome of the trial. If the trial judge doesn’t allow it, then you have an appealable offense.

I still think there is a due process issue with notice of the issue of wrong conduct. Basically, even IF Trump did this, how could he receive the basic requirements of due process, if he was unaware that his conduct was wrong? For example, many state supreme courts have struck down statutes that are too broad and do not specifically outline what conduct is prohibited, not only because these statutes can encompass perfectly lawful behavior, but also because of the issue of notice. An individual would be unsure of what it that they were doing was wrong (an element of intent). SCOT US has ruled on this as well, if not directly, then indirectly. How can you be on notice that your conduct is wrong IF the prosecuted bad conduct is piecemealed federal and state law that is also a novel/ case of first impression?

Fire them and replace them with...who? Who will defend a man that the regime has marked for suppression? The regime has made it clear that anyone who defends him also be suppressed.

I don’t even think Dershowitz would work for him. He’s already lost a lot of liberal friends.

It was rigged, could of had Perry Mason, Matlock, Antonin Scalia, Dershowitz or any of em, wouldn’t make a difference. The Marxists control every lever of the judiciary in NYC.

Lawyers are being attacked for working for Trump, threatened with disbarment and it is having an effect.

Oh, good grief. There are no lawyers left for Trump to hire. They are all fighting to save their law licenses or are too afraid to represent him.

When the case gets to the US Supreme Court, there will be at least five justices who will be highly sympathetic to Trump’s situation and who will reverse the verdict. Hopefully, the Supreme Court will hear the case on an expedited basis at a special hearing during the summer.
