The problem with the predicate crime is that it was based on the presumption of guilt.

Nobody could name the crime, but whatever that crime was Trump had to be guilty of it in order to resuscitate the expired misdemeanors or it wasn't a crime.

I thought we had the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law. Merchan and Bragg flipped the timeline here making Trump guilty of an unnamed crime so they can convict him on an expired misdemeanor.

Merchan and Bragg need an “intervention”.

Reminds me of the Napoleonic Code. A recent lawschool graduate could tell us about their new theories. Does Bragg teach in one of those schools?

They should make him pass an exam on logic before he teaches law classes.

We still don't know what the jurors thought the predicate crime was--the form they had to fill out did not specify it. Bragg kind of gave his version during his press conference yesterday afternoon.

Trump's talk this morning was excellent but he had to be vague on a lot of points (not naming names) because of the continuing gag order--Merchan could throw him in jail for violating it.

Turley doesn't think Merchan will order Trump to prison but he has been Pollyannaish throughout the trial. It probably depends on what the Biden White House tells him (whether they think it helps or hurts Biden to have Trump imprisoned). Short of prison, he could order house arrest or other things to make it hard for Trump to campaign. And Trump won't be able to vote in November unless the verdict is overturned before then.

So far the verdict has backfired...but the election is months away and we don't know what all the Democrats have planned.
