They don’t have to give up power. They control all the institutions or seriously intimidate them like Johnson and the GOPe.
Nothing improves under the current Regime - which the GOPe is very much a part. Just like the UK Toiries and Canadian Conservatives are Regime “conservatives” and not a genuine opposition.
