To: period end of story
Using a self-check out one time, I got back to the car and realized I forgot to scan the case of beer that was under my carriage. Like a good doobie, I went back in there to try and pay for it. I went to one of the cashiers to explain and she had to call over her front end manager as she did not know how to handle the situation. The front end manager scratched his head and brought in the store manager who looked at me like I had two heads. He brusquely asked me where the case of beer was. I said that I left it in my car as I did not want to lug it all the way back into the store - I just wanted to pay for it and be on my way.

He then told me, like I was an idiot, that I had to bring the case of beer back into the store so that the bar code could get scanned properly and stalked off, leaving me with the front end manager and the cashier. The front end manager suggested that I just go home with the beer and maybe scan the item twice next time I was in there buying it.

Bottom line, nobody really seemed to care all that much. So why should I?

Yeah, you basically have to have the barcode. There’s a way to override it but it won’t count inventory properly. Big whoop.

Just scan twice next time you’re there. It will all work out.

God bless
