having been asked to edit articles and textbooks, I no longer do it anymore
you can put hundreds of hours of labor into editing a garbled, error-ridden manuscript
only to see the publisher print at least half of the mistakes anyway
and put your name on the cover as editor or contributor
I don’t want my name on any damned books unless I wrote them or i get to at least check them over before they go to press
it damages your reputation to have a POS book on the shelf WITH YOUR NAME ON or IN IT....and it is particularly insulting when they (often) don’t even pay you for your time and effort.
Screw the publishers! They should go back to hiring editors with subject-matter expertise instead of DEI graduates who couldn’t write their own names correctly on a roll of toilet paper
My mailbox at work tomorrow will be full of .pdf links to “A novel gelatin, pullulan, polyvinylpyrrolidone, clove oil, graphene oxide, civet mating pheromone hydrogel crosslinked with ionizing radiation”
Someone’s getting his master’s degree!
We joke that students go to the chemistry cabinet, grab a combination of chemicals that haven’t been used before and voila you have the new magical potion!
