Rust never sleeps, termites etc. The EC will be moot. Flooding the country with foreign nationals, illegal aliens and big city machine politics aka “delivering the vote” renders it less and less effective.

California was once a solid lock for Republicans at the governor’s level, as well as providing a couple presidents. There are no Republicans in California, electorally speaking. Colorado, Arizona are not trending well. Virginia. Etc

“Wishing it were so does not make it so.”

That goes both ways. We’re watching everything destroyed in real time by people who know what they are doing. Calling them “stupid” isn’t really sufficient. Behar might be a useful idiot, but it won’t matter. The damage is done, and permanent, more or less.

Yeah, he made the world “safe” for Democracy. What a disaster.

The propaganda got really thick after the 2nd though. I mean, it sounds good.

“In a Democracy, a dictator can never take over. The people won’t allow it.”

Do you believe this? That was official government pablum on AFRTS in the 1950s

The Electoral College is all that prevents Alaska, Delaware, Vermont, Wyoming and North & South Dakota (each of which has but 3 electoral votes) from becoming politically irrelevant.

It balances states’ rights against Fed. That is why creatures like that hate it — since the way things are now the Fed will rule forever.

If the Electoral College did not exist, small states need not vote.

The problem is not the Electoral College. The problem is the winner take all system implemented by most states.

Want to repair the system? Get your state to go back to proportional distribution of Electoral College votes.

Do that in every state. Then the system will work as intended.

For a minor kink in the system, consider:

As of 2022, 87.8% of California residents were U.S. citizens. 12.2% are non-citizens. That would make 12.2% of their 53 representatives derived from their non-citizen population. Approximately 6.46 California representatives are derived from its non-citizen population. Approximately 6.46 California delegates to the Electoral College are derived from its non-citizen population. That would be more than two of the lightly populated states, combined.

Somebody should tell joy that biden wants to forgive all the Electoral College loans and then she’ll be ok with it.
