I have seen the whole video. From what it seems the kid didn't realize the gun was loaded. At some point he drops the mag but forgot he chambered a round prior. That mistake unfortunately gets a lot of people in trouble. That was one of the first things I showed my wife when explaining how a semi auto pistol operates.

That's not what killed him. Not intending to kill, then pointing the gun at people or himself and pulling the trigger is what killed him. Treat all guns like they're loaded...It's very simple, not complex.
