Like I said, you’re a foreigner and don’t understand how our system works. It is not one of your parliaments where the majority party leader is head of the government, and they all vote the way he wants. Congress is jealous of its powers and can tell private citizen Trump or the current President to go piss up a rope if he tells them to do something, which they have, see Obamacare repeal and funding the wall.
I have members of my family living in America, France and Scandinavia. I spend my life traveling non-stop between those parts of the world and know perfectly well the different political systems and how they work.
Evidently, everyone knows that Trump, right now, has zero responsibilities within Congress or the White House.
But that doesn’t mean Trump is lacking political influence. Right?
Actually, Trump’s political influence (behind the curtain) on the Republicans in Congress is absolutely MASSIVE. They know Trump will most probably be reelected, thus they don’t want to do any political moves which Trump would not get along with... knowing that it would ruin their comfortable existence and reelection chances. Making Trump in anyway unhappy, is not an option for them.
If Trump had not given his secret and political go-ahead to Mike Johnson during that high-stake Mar-a-Lago meeting, Johnson would not have presented the 90 billion dollars Ukraine/Israel/Taiwan bill for an up or down vote. Period.
You know this.
