Vivek Ramaswamy Repeatedly Gets Booed by Libertarians for Mentioning Trump
Daily Beast via Yahoo News ^ | 5.24.2024 | Edith Olmstead

Vivek Ramaswamy was met with a wave of boos at the Libertarian National Convention on Friday for mentioning Donald Trump on the eve of the former president’s speech there.

The failed Republican presidential candidate was speaking at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C., when he got a distinctly negative reaction from the audience for mentioning Trump, whose planned speech on Saturday has led to calls for protest among libertarians.

“I have gotten to know Donald Trump over the last several years, and the last several months,” Ramaswamy said, before being interrupted by a volley of boos from the audience. “—and you’re gonna hear from him tomorrow night! And the question is do you want to influence the next administration or don’t you?”

Ramaswamy tried to recover, but continued to field boos and laughter from the audience. “You all get to speak your mind, I respect that. Libertarians in the room gotta speak up—but, the question is, how do you get it done? I believe the future of this country depends on a libertarian-nationalist alliance that will save this country,” he said.

At one point, the audience began to shout over him as he explained why even those who don’t totally support all of Trump’s positions should still back him for president.

“Are you going to agree with him on 100 percent of what he says? Do I agree with 100 percent of his policy positions? No,” he said, before being drowned out by angry shouts of “No!” when he said Trump has a real shot at the presidency.

Several delegates at the convention plan to protest Trump's speech on Saturday,

Cato Institute-
How Many Libertarians Are There? The Answer Depends on the Method You Use
By Emily Ekins

“There has been debate this week about how many libertarians there are. The answer is: it depends on how you measure it and how you define libertarian. The overwhelming body of literature, however, using a variety of different methods and different definitions, suggests that libertarians comprise about 10–20% of the population, but may range from 7–22%.

Notes: This estimate comes from an analysis I ran on the 2012 American National Election Study Evaluations of Government and Society Survey (EGSS) 2.
Furthermore, if one imposes the same level of ideological consistency on liberals, conservatives, and communitarians/populists that many do on libertarians, these groups too comprise similar shares of the population.”

The political distribution map at the link is very interesting.

Libertarians are usually the biggest Liberals I know. Of course they support Biden. Big Government. Big Deficits. Lots of hedonism. Libertarians are enormous hypocrites.

Then you obviously don’t know real libertarians. Perhaps you should try to know more people with grey matter.

Libertarians have elected more Democrats than Hillary and Obozo combined.

There was a libertarian candidate for office on Tim Pool’s podcast who said the party is being infiltrated by left wing Democrats.

I’ve got no use for so-called “libertarians”. They talk a lot about small government but my gut tells me they are more anarchists than not.

I don’t trust them.

Thou Shalt Not Diss Donald Trump.

It is not amusing to give a nonsensical feelgood vote, a throwaway vote, a wasted vote that furthers the evil agenda of the Left. The Left already has more than enough help.

What kind of life would Libertarians have in a Leftist Chines Communist woke style tyranny?

I will never again be tolerant of Libertarians here. Or even Kat Timpf. They are like pacificists in World War II.

By the way, Robert Ringer who was once touted as a Libertarian candidate, has been a staunch and outspoken champion of Donald Trump for a long time now.

Here is a recent article which is music to my vengeful ears:
This is one of the main reasons the American Empire is on life support, because the hard truth is that a civil society is not possible without retribution. Contrary to what leftists would like you to believe, the main reason for putting criminals behind bars is not to rehabilitate them. The main reason to imprison criminals is societal retribution.

There must be retribution for all the sham indictments against Donald Trump, starting with Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, Fanni Willis, and Jack Smith. There must be retribution for putting Trump supporters like Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, and Peter Navarro in shackles. There must be retribution for the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago. There must be retribution for Joe Biden brazenly conducting an influence-peddling and bribery operation while serving as a United States senator, vice president, and president.

Likewise, every person who signed the infamous “Russian disinformation” laptop letter should be indicted. Alejandro Mayorkas should be indicted (not just impeached) for aiding and abetting millions of foreigners to enter the country illegally. Michael Byrd, the capitol policeman who shot and killed unarmed Ashli Babbitt, should be indicted. Nancy Pelosi and every member of the January 6 committee should be indicted on multiple counts, including conspiracy to defraud American taxpayers.

The list goes on and on — the myriad Anthony Fauci lies … big tech’s censorship of news and opinions not acceptable to Democrats … James Clapper and John Brennan lying to Congress under oath … Hillary Clinton deleting 33,000 emails that were under subpoena … etc., etc., etc.

The first step toward accomplishing all this is for Donald Trump to hire a ferocious attorney general immediately after being sworn into office, someone who has the killer instinct to take swift action to start prosecuting crooked politicians, bureaucrats, and their surrogates. Another Jeff Sessions or Bill Barr mistake would be fatal to his presidency.

“ Which only goes to PROVE that Libertarians exist for ONE REASON, which is to weaken Republicans, particularly conservatives.”
*********************************************

ABSOLUTELY. On a ballot they serve ONLY to drain votes from the Republican candidates enough to give the DemocRAT the win. Their voters are LOSERTARIANS.

most Libertarians I’ve known were quite intelligent

Small "l" libertarians, perhaps. Big "L"? Never.

Complete, total open borders because anyone who wants to enter the US should be able to do so and not just because they have the government's blessing, get on any every type of drug, etc.

Libertarians are just pot heads. Now that pot is legal they don't know what to do. They're the dog that caught the car.

Yes, you have summed this up almost perfectly. I made the mistake of going to a Libertarian Party meeting about 50 years ago and filling out something with my name and address on it when I first arrived. The entire meeting turned out to be focused on legalizing marijuana. I left long before it was over because I thought it was going to be about something entirely different.

After multiple requests for them to take me off of their mailing list... I continued to receive pro-marijuana literature in the mail for decades.
