Boeing Starliner crewed test flight delayed indefinitely

Boeing's Starliner manned Crew Flight test has been indefinitely delayed after a string of issues, NASA officials said.

The launch has been scheduled for no earlier than Saturday, and no new date has been announced.

"The team has been in meetings for two consecutive days, assessing flight rationale, system performance and redundancy. There is still forward work in these areas, and the next possible launch opportunity is still being discussed," NASA, Boeing and United Launch Alliance said in a statement.

The original May 6 launch date to send a crew to the International Space Station was canceled, and subsequently the launch date was pushed back multiple times.

The Starliner has experienced several different issues that delayed the launches, including a problem with a pressure valve on the Centaur upper stage oxygen tank and a small helium leak in the spacecraft service module.

70 years later we’re still sending people stuffed in capsules into space using rockets.

Sigh.

Or more precisely NOT sending them.

Competence is so-o-o-o-o middle of the last century.

It’s times like this when I really, really miss the guy in the crew cut and vest...

Ya know, there’s this little thing called the “Crew Dragon” spacecraft. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?

If it’s Boeing, I’m not going.

I’m mildly curious to know what you think we should be using to put men in orbit.

Good for you, sir! All the best!

It is not necessary and we have the tech to do better. Check out the scam our government has going in regards to classifying any "disruptive" technology. There are many, many incidences of well publicized, well documented breakthrough technologies that just seem to...disappear. Most would have a disruptive influence on our energy sector.

A professor of physics I am acquainted with told me about HIS mentor's work in anti-gravity in the 1950s. They were making breakthroughs and then...poof. No one is talking about anti-grav anymore. No funding. People who were researching it are doing other research with BIG grants and funding. Some just kind of disappeared. He told me that IF you start publishing about anti-grav now you get a visit from the government.

I can’t tell you that.

But I can tell you why we don’t have anything as visionary.

Because Deep State is scared spitless of the kind of people who did that.

And the kind of blessings they brought to the nation, and not just with regard to the space program.

I’m old enough to remember those days well.

And if you are, too, I bet you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I can’t tell you that.

LOL!

Of course not.

I bet you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Don't be shy. Tell us all what you're talking about.

See my reply #12.

Sounds like you know about it as well.

My uncle was head of security for Los Alamos and Sandia Labs. He recently passed away. When I asked him about Tesla, he got agitated for my asking. He finally said...

"You like science fiction, right? Take what you THINK we have, add 100 years, and you're getting close."

Deep State hasn’t wanted the right stuff for decades.

The right stuff scares Deep State ****less.

Which is why we’re still stuffing people into capsules and sending them into space on big dumb boosters.

No threat to Deep State there.

I grew up in age of wonder.

People, especially kids, need that.

Along with our republic, we need that back.

Do tell ... what should we be doing instead of launching men into orbit on REUSABLE boosters?

Wow! I had to look it up, they had made 14 crewed flights, for a total of 108 people.

And ten cargo missions.

I had no idea there had been that many. I presume the point is, they have made at least one crewed flight...:)
