An Effective Trump Presidency Requires Republican Control of Congress
American Thinker ^ | 05/23/2024 | Steve McCann

Because virtually all the polling firms publish essentially the same results, there is little doubt that if an honest election were held today Donald Trump would handily defeat Joe Biden in the Electoral College vote. Further, as long as an increasingly senescent, unpopular, and compromised Joe Biden remains the Democrat nominee, Trump should win at least 270-290 electoral votes (270 needed to win the presidency) in November despite the inevitable Democrat duplicity, lawfare, and voter fraud and machinations.

If faced with the potential scenario of not being able to replace Biden, the Democrats are going to single-mindedly focus on races in both the House and Senate. Not only to block Trump’s agenda as well as his judicial and cabinet appointees, but to reprise their “Impeachment Follies” of 2018-2020. Losing to Donald Trump again would unleash a virulent strain of Trump Derangement Syndrome. When combined with control of one or both houses of Congress, there would be four years of unmitigated national chaos.

While so many are focusing on the presidential sweepstakes, it cannot be forgotten that without control of both Houses of Congress there can be no overarching rollback of the disastrous policies of the Biden Administration and the Democrats. Which raises the question: what is currently happening with congressional races throughout the country?

Five recent polls revealed that when Americans were asked which party they prefer to control Congress, 45.4% favored Democrats and 44% favored Republicans.   Despite the ongoing unfathomable financial and societal chaos, Democrats are still viewed favorably by a substantial segment of the electorate.

Control of the Senate will be key to what happens after November 5, 2024.  As the Republican caucus will still include two implacable anti-Trumpers (Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins), the Republicans need to win at a minimum three seats

I didn’t say it wouldn’t help. A Trump presidency alone will help, but as demonstrated Republicans have not proven a cohesive force for good.

No; it is possible rather than out-of-reach ideal.

Currently, the Republican candidates have a substantial lead in just one of seven winnable Senate seats.

These numbers do imply that 15-22% of the voters have not made a choice. This is the squishy middle or "independent" bunch that needs to be convinced. Also, Kari Lake should legally change her last name to Lago. As in California, there is a strong ethnic voting pattern where a Hispanic surname will usually get you the vote of all of the Latino community whether you are conservative or liberal.

The President still has “A pen and a phone”...and the EO.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane. Trump had a republican House and Senate for his first two years in office. You would never know that judging by what was accomplished. They joined forces with the democrats in their war on Trump. They were some of Mueller’s staunchest supporters and fought to keep that investigation going that they knew was totally fraudulent. They worked hard against Trump on tax cuts and the border and just about everything else. Then in the midterms, House republicans all retired in droves handing Pelosi the gavel. The end.

At some point the Fed and Treasury will stop pretending that money is anything other than a substance whimsically created from nothing via QE.

That’s when they whimsically create $50T check and pay it all off.

And that’s when Russia and its vast resources becomes both economically and militarily overwhelming

The problem is that this whole gambit of voting the lesser of two evils is why we are in the situation we are now. The net result is a communist America run by Obama and others. In reality voting for republicans gets us to a commie shithole possibly with lower gas prices.

RE: The problem is that this whole gambit of voting the lesser of two evils is why we are in the situation we are now

Well, we are left with little choice.

The ideal situation is a Congress filled with ALL Patriotic Constitution-following conservatives.

Not having that, we have no other option than to live with imperfect Republicans in Congress. This is better than having Congress filled with Democrats. A half glass of water is better than no water.

We only have these choices come Election Day — vote the Republican, vote the Democrat, vote third party, or stay home.

RE: It requires Trump control of congress.

You mean Trump as both executive and legislator?

Why not control the judiciary as well? That way, we have an American equivalent of Xi, Putin or Maduro.

😆 😝

What we need to do is unite as Americans under one banner with the goals of either the restoration of America or the partitioning of America. Those should be our only goals.

What we need is a leader with the ability to develop a national strategy to accomplish these goals. We need people with know how.

Your head is somewhere back decades ago. When you’re in a graveyard spiral just 75 percent isn’t enough. They’ve stolen the presidency and they have dismissed the constitution.

Not necessarily. He can EOrder a lot of crappola. He can also kill off clowns reporting to his cabinet picks. This will flush out whistleblowers.

He may not do more than kill off lots of Gov’mt jobs and traitors.

What part of we the people need to elect more conservatives did you not understand?

I know the RINOs back stabbed him. That’s why we need to elect conservatives within the Republican party.

I’m from Alabama. The last conservative democrat died in the 1980s. The people are still conservative, but within the Republican party.

In Arizona, Kari Lake, is losing to a radical Democrat, Ruben Gallego, 49% to 36% or a difference of 13 percentage points.

Uh huh. If the Chairman of the Arizona Republican GOP was out there attempting to commit election fraud and manipulate elections by bribing Lake to stay out of politics, how do we know the Republicans, friends of the Chairmen in AZ, are not involved in supporting the Democrat, for payback for Lake exposing the GOP Chairman?
