I remember Dennis Miller’s line about German Reunification:
“I view the reunification of Germany in much the same way I view a possible Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis reconciliation: I haven’t really enjoyed any of their previous work and I’m not sure I need to see the new sh*t right now.”
Dennis Miller’s comparison of the reunification of Germany to a possible Martin/Lewis reunification is too much of a stretch. Even though Miller didn’t enjoy them, Martin and Lewis each went on to individually successful show business careers that would not have been possible if they had remained (or reunited) as a comedy team.
Similar success didn’t happen to both East and West Germany, probably due to the destruction of their best DNA in two world wars.
