In a bipolar world - the US and the USSR - the UN did serve a purpose. But eventually , starting with Hammarskold (sp?), it became explicitly anti-Western and anti-Israel. Now the UN is as Mark Steyn describes it: three quarts of ice cream and one quart of dog sh*t. The result resembles the latter much more than the former.
