Political leaders in Saudi Arabia are pressing the administration of leftist President Joe Biden to help the country develop a nuclear program as part of a larger “security” deal that may ultimately include a pathway to normalizing ties with Israel, Reuters reported on Monday.

The discussions regarding helping Riyadh develop nuclear energy, potentially the construction of a reactor and uranium enrichment capacity, reportedly occurred during National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan’s visit to Saudi Arabia and Israel this weekend. Sullivan met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday to discuss “strategic relations” between Washington and Riyadh, according to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the “nearly final version of the draft strategic agreements between” the two countries. Sullivan then traveled to Israel to further conversations about such a deal with officials there.

What happens if the House of Saud is overthrown?

More likely, what if MBS'a successor is a hardliner?

Hey, why not just give The Cartel the bomb while you’re at it, Joe? Or maybe the WEF? There’d be a nice kickback in there for you.

Biden may have to eat his words about Saudi being an outcast nation.

Hmm…they’re sitting on an ocean of oil but they need nuclear energy.

Makes perfect sense, if you’re Joe Biden.

Would the Saudis not buy a bomb or 50 from Pakistan if they felt they needed to have them; as in when Iran announces they have one and tests it?
I have also read that Japan is ready to assemble their in a bum’s rush timeline if threatened by China/Norks/Russia. FWIW

Biden and Obama have already financed, defended, assisted the Iranian nuclear missile buildup

Now Arabia

Maybe the world will get lucky and they’ll use them in each other instead of on USA (as announced by the Iranian dictators as their first priority)

Likely fake news.

If the Saudis wanted to move towards nuclear power, for time of oil scarcity, they would reasonably do so via someone who actually has rich uranium supplies, like their OPEC+ partner Russia.

If they wanted that nuclear program to include weapons, the same would remain so, seeking development with a country that actually has rich supplies of uranium. This would serve as deterrent vs Shiite central across the Gulf.

Why would the US be involved at all?

Saudi Arabia has for decades considered the use of nuclear power. It has not given up on small cheap thorium reactors.
