This is what I was wondering about:

Would the fresh water of the glacier vs the salinity of the oceans affect the direction of its flow? Would the different temperatures of the oceans attract or repel its flow?

No, since ocean currents are what they are. Keep in mind that the ice shelf is constantly melting due to the ocean current that circles the continent and the warmer water is due to the undersea volcanoes......
