If the judge isn’t thinking about limiting damage to his own reputation, I’m sure some of the jurors are.
The jurors are all thinking, among other things, how they will personally be “cancelled” if they do what they all know to be right.

The question is whether any (or, strength in numbers, all) jurors are more concerned about their own safety or in the reputation of the US as not being a banana republic.

The judge may make the trial about whether Trump had an affair with Stormy Daniels, and direct the jurors to find Trump guilty if they believed her testimony. No matter that he never was charged with that (and it would not have been a crime anyway).

The jurors may be thinking they will get more money for their books if they find Trump guilty. Plus they will be shunned by their friends if they vote to acquit.
