Ukraine may not be around after a few more years, but then, we’ll have to defend the next “Ukraine” within a few short years after that. And it will be a lot more costly then. If Ukraine is defeated, its men will be conscripted into the Russian army to face NATO.

Nonsense. The Russians are just snipping off a couple Russian populated border provinces. They aren’t going to annex all of Ukraine or attack NATO.

] Very doubtful. Even the current military personnel don't want to be fighting in Ukraine now. So, neither the Russians nor any others would want to face NATO. The only way they would be facing NATO, is if they were forced to do so at gunpoint, which Russia's leaders are known for.
