They can’t legally. The statute of limitations for misdemeanor “making a false business record” has expired. It can only be revived/extended if Trump were convicted of an actual felony that the false business record was intended to conceal. Buying damaging stories so the “owners” won’t spread them is not a crime, much less a felony.

They have not elucidated a crime. This has been pointed out several times. They are making it “into” a crime which would not be a State crime, but a Federal one- one which was already looked at by the FEC and said— no foul, no charge.
