there was nothing wrong in the workplace to fix ....
I assume you’re young.
I’m 79. We NEEDED women’s lib at that time.
I checked out on the Zeiss Planetarium at the Adler Planetarium. I was a physics major at U of Chicago. I was told that I couldn’t do Zeiss lectures because I was a woman and women’s voices weren’t authoritative in the dark. One dream gone.
I wrote movie scripts for computer topics. I was told that the narrator HAD to be a man because women’s voices weren’t acceptable as authoritative. And the keypunch operator we showed HAD to be a woman.
Women’s lib came about because society put down women and didn’t give them equal opportunities. Then, women’s lib was a good solution. But once it started putting down men, it became clear that simple equality wasn’t the goal. That ruined it for me but at least women finally had access to opportunities. If the opportunities were blown, so be it. But when ability matched with opportunity, then we were free to go for whatever goal we had.
