WHY YOU CAN'T BE AN IRAN HAWK AND A RUSSIA DOVE
Institute for the Study of War ^

A Russian victory is an Iranian victory. Moscow and Tehran have formed a military bloc with the aim of defeating the United States and its allies in the Middle East, Europe, and around the world. Russian and Iranian military forces have been fighting alongside one another in Syria for nearly a decade.

OK, I am American born, never set foot in Europe, and am going to make a guess on Felix Dzerzhinsky. 85 year old memory flash says early Soviet secret police boss. Secret Police called Cheka. Info popped into my brain, as I looked at your sentence. Now to Google and see if old brain is right.

Here is what Google had to say about Dzerzhinsky:

“Who was Felix Dzerzhinsky and what did he do?
Felix Dzerzhinsky - Wikipedia
From 1917 until his death in 1926, he led the first two Soviet secret police organizations, the Cheka and the OGPU, establishing state security organs for the post-revolutionary Soviet regime. He was one of the architects of the Red Terror and de-Cossackization.”

Head of Soviet secret police, hardly an obscure Russian Bolshevik. He had 9 years to strike terror into the heart of many Russians and make sure a lot of them died, to be sure the Bolsheviks came out on top. I was not aware of his being an architect of de-Cossackization, but that certainly makes him a fit figure for any discussion of Russian behavior toward Ukraine with its history of a Cossack population in a significant area of the country. Surprised the 85 year brain can still pop out obscure facts like that, maybe I should run for president? ;-)

Thank you for the additional information about Major Ferguson. I knew he was killed at King’s MOuntain, but not the details about being dragged by his stirrup to the rebel lines and then shot multiple times. If I ever write my book about the horrible Harpe brothers, I will have to verify this information. At any rate, the research for that possible book has given me a lot more insight into southern history than I had prior to that research. I can’t imagine that our Southern Revolutionary patriots would have had anything but sympathy for the Ukranians who are being systematically invaded by a Soviet loving dictator.

It is the shady duplicitous history of both belligerents that sours my sympathies.   With our corrupt Washington Kleptocrats in cahoots with Ukraine for over a decade or even three, I am extremely against sending any help at all to that corrupt country.   If a Russian victory might shut down Biden's evil schemes then more power to them.

I was interupted, don’t know if I sent this already.

If you follow the comment numbers back a few places, you should arrive at the comment where Chad says something about Putin erecting a statue of Dzerzhinski in front of an important building in Moscow. This goes hand in hand with Putin’s flying the old Soviet flag on the only tank in his military parade last year, also ordering Russian children to be chanting “Glory to the Soviet Nation” in their elementary grade classes. For some reason (or lack thereof) Putin thinks returning to the Soviet days of mass murder of millions of Russians is a good thing. He has now specialized in having Russians commit mass suicide by participating in “meat wave” assaults without adequate weapons while fighting in Ukraine.

Putin appreciated Soviet Power, but not the Communist aspect of it. He felt the same about the power during Czarist Rule, as well.

Thank you. Back after an exhausting few days supervising a $6000 landscaping project. Getting too old for this stuff. My partner had promised to drive me to the project building where I planned to spend the night and let the contractor in before my normal wake up hour.
