Walmart and several other major chains announced a few weeks ago that they would reduce prices on ‘some’ items.

Walmart is always a little pricey compared to HEB here in Texas. We only go to Walmart for things we can't find at HEB. That is getting to be fewer and fewer things.

Can someone tell what grocery prices went down for the 1st time in a year? I just did my weekly grocery shopping on Friday on the way from work, and the amount I paid at checkout was the same 5%-to 15% more as it has been every month since January-no prices on food were less-not even the prices of this season’s fresh veggies/fruit were down...

The nearest Walmart and HEB are both in Boerne-24-25 miles away-HEB is a little cheaper. I’ve been buying groceries at the small chain Lowe’s Market 18 miles away in Bandera for several years because I like their mostly Texas grown organic produce and grass fed, free range meat. They carry some Mexican produce-not much from Cali-and their produce is always very fresh-there are a lot of all-organic/paleo diet non GMO/non processed food types out here in BFE besides me and that store manager apparently is aware of us. The prices are comparable with HEB’s organic produce and better quality, in my opinion-but their non-food items are a bit more. Groceries are up at least 20% from 6f-12 months ago any way you slice or dice it.

I also filled up my old 4Runner on Friday-cheapest gas was $3.55-less than 4 years ago, I could fill the tank for about $30...
