Gallant needs to be fired for insubordination and dereliction of duty.
Something tells me the 2nd amendment wouldn’t work there. Is it me?
He can’t be fired per se. He is the leader of one of the parties in the governing coalition. He wants to be the next PM and is setting the stage. He’s been a hawk on Gaza supporting Netanyahu but has been angling for the top job for months waiting for this war to come to an end and the blame to fall on Netanyahu. He defied Netanyahu and came to meet top US political and security officials. After he left, US Senator Schumer called for Netanyahu to resign. No coincidence.
What he raises are legitimate Israeli domestic concerns. Do they want to occupy Gaza for years? If not then what, and who, and what powers will be delegated to whom? Will foreign troops go in, can all sides trust them? And of course who should lead Israel in the aftermath and will that person have a plan acceptable to the public.
Israel will probably demand security control of all the borders, especially the border with Egypt where nearly all the smuggling comes in.
