The USSR and later Russia have been pretty tight since 1949, however Russian interests are peculiar to Russians and the same goes for the Chinese. How they’ve managed to engulf most of Asia without major border conflicts between them for seventy years is pretty good statesmanship, despite the outward shows of feigned affection between their respective leaders.
