Seven pro-life activists were sentenced to prison this week for protesting at a late-term abortion clinic in 2020.
The activists were convicted of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and “conspiracy against rights” for a sit-in protest at the Surgi-Clinic in Washington, D.C.
Three activists were sentenced on Tuesday, and four more were sentenced on Wednesday.
The Daily Wire reports:
On Wednesday, Jonathan Darnel, Herb Geraghty, Jean Marshall, and Joan Bell were all sentenced to prison. Darnel got 34 months in prison, Geraghty got 27 months, Marshall got 24 months, and Bell got 27 months. The sentences followed Tuesday’s sentencing of Lauren Handy to 57 months in prison, as well as John Hinshaw (21 months) and William Goodman (27 months).
During the protest, the pro-life protesters sang songs, prayed, locked arms in front of the facility’s staff entrance, and attached themselves with ropes and chains to block doors inside the building.
“As evidenced by today’s sentencings, the FBI and our judicial system will not tolerate the obstruction of civil rights,” said David Sundberg of the FBI Washington Field Office. “The FBI will continue to investigate FACE Act violations in all jurisdictions, so patients and providers can exercise their right to receive or provide lawful reproductive health care without the threat of violence or intimidation.”
In 2022, Handy, obtained a box containing 115 aborted fetuses from outside the Surgi-Center. Five of them appeared to be within the 26-32 week range, which is typically considered far enough along to survive outside the womb.
Last week, the remains of five infants were delivered to DC Metro police in a condition consistent with partial birth abortion or infanticide.
I’m calling for a full medical examination and police investigation to determine when and how these innocent babies died. pic.twitter.com/B2wRkKNgzs

Handy and other anti-abortion activists called on the District of Columbia to investigate if any of the babies had been born alive, but the city refused. Partial-birth abortion remains against the law in the district.
Ashan Benedict, D.C. police’s executive assistant chief of police, said during a press conference that they appeared to have been aborted “in accordance with D.C. law [and] there doesn’t seem to be anything criminal in nature about that except for how they got into this house.” The department refused to order autopsies to confirm the claim.
The clinic is run by Dr. Cesare Santangelo, who was captured on video by Live Action News in 2013 saying that he does not provide life-saving care for viable, premature babies born after a failed abortion.
All this while moronic Zeepers here fret about political prisoners in Russia.
I have nothing but sadness over what some parts of this country have become.
It is time for ALL the pro life Christians to get out there. Then, of course, ISSURRECTION would be declared.
So, the Chief said they were aborted in compliance with the law. How did he pull that out of his ass? I wonder if BLM is available for hire to explain a few things to the PTB?
Notice that while the J6 patriots are being persecuted, the Republican leaders in the house and senate do nothing.
Notice that while the pro-life activists are being persecuted, the religious leaders do nothing.
J6 patriots and pro-life activists are on the right side of history. In the future, Republican legislators and religious leaders will claim that they supported the J6 patriots and pro-lifers. Sort of like Biden saying that he supported the civil rights movement.
“ I have nothing but sadness over what some parts of this country have become.”
A fish rots from the head down. I am thinking that the only place a real Christian has a place in America is in prison. Imagine getting three years for praying. Or for protesting a stolen election…
And if these protestors had blocked the entrance of a gun club or shooting range, would you feel they should be allowed to, without consequence?
I don’t agree with abortion at all, but if its legal in the state this happened in, preventing folks from doing it may be something you feel is your moral duty to do, but if you do you accept that doing so may come with consequences including prison time.
Work to change minds and laws.
Better yet, the whole country.
We Orthodox Christians pray for captives and their salvation several times in Divine Liturgy!
May Donald Trump win the election of 2024, and declare the release of ALL of America’s political prisoners on his first day in office! AMEN!!
Do you seriously think that people would get three to five years in prison for blocking entrance to a gun club or shooting range? Or blocking anything else, if it is leftists doing the blocking?
Senator McConnell (R-KY) was seemingly the first to have dubbed it an “insurrection”, doing so in the early evening of J6 immediately after the joint session had resumed.
Senator Cruz (R-TX), who had been fostering and encouraging objections to the EC tally before protestors had entered the Capitol building, could not have been pleased to hear the majority leader use that term.
...”pray for us oh holy martyrs that we be made worthy of the promise of Christ” AMEN!
Again you want to deflect.
You are free to violate the law for your cause, but don’t cry about the fact you can face consequences of doing.
You want to argue the selective endorsement of a law, or that a law is fair or not, that’s a completely separate issue. However if you decide your cause drives you to violate the law, any law, and do so, you accept the consequences of your actions.
These people were jailed for “conspiracy against rights” among other things. When is murder a right? Is there a minimum age limit on murder?
I’d like to know when this bill was signed and why nobody even tried to stop it.
The first amendment is dead. In his first day in office he must pardon all the folks illegally imprisoned. Time to do all he can do to remove these third world judges who don’t follow the constitution. The Supremes must look at this abomination.
What about the Freedom of Access for people stranded on roads by protesters?
meanwhile murderers and pedo run free!
only Conservatives and J6 protestors get jail anymore!
This is not a deflection as you brought up the gun range argument.
