‘An occasional glass of wine to help settle the stomach’ is not an endorsement of alcohol.

Other scriptures warn explicitly against drinking too much nor spending your time in a drunken state.

Do you know any biblical warnings against mj? Does it make black men rape white women?

Too much drink, yes. But the High Priest could imbibe, as long as he wasn’t on temple duty. If you drink alcohol, you enter a state of uncleanliness for about the length of time it takes digest and excrete the alcohol.

Leviticus 10:8-11

8 Then the Lord spoke to Aaron, saying: 9 “Do not drink wine or intoxicating drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, 10 that you may distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean, 11 and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord has spoken to them by the hand of Moses.”

If the High Priest can drink, everybody can drink. The stricture is that you time your last drink with when you plan to go to church, the night before.

Having said that, it is not mandatory to drink and you have to use wisdom as to whether it’s an appropriate activity for you because you may be prone to alcoholism, but it’s a banned Biblical activity.

Some people might bring up Samson, but that is because he was a lifelong Nazarene, which is normally a year long service. You can’t drink as a Nazarene, but when you are done your yearlong service as one, you can have a drink.
