On Tuesday’s “PBS NewsHour,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen predicted that President Joe Biden’s tariffs won’t cause any meaningful price increases for typical families and responded to a question on her criticism of the Trump tariffs as “taxes on consumers” by stating that Biden’s tariffs are different because they’re “are a targeted group of strategic sectors where we have developed a real overdependence on China.”
Yellen said that with the Biden tariff regime, “I don’t think that anything will occur here that would be noticeable to the typical American family. Mainly, these tariff increases serve to protect firms and workers that are being supported by the incentives, the tax incentives, and other incentives in the semiconductor and CHIPS Act and Inflation Reduction Act. These are sectors where American firms are gearing up production, are very able to compete, but they face an unlevel playing field.”

I would call her a political whore but she is past her prime. She is just a lying mouthpiece for Biden, and the hell of it is she is in command of the Treasury Department, also known as inflation on steroids.

Since Biden has been elected inflation has been about 27%. My income is up about 10% as I am on fixed income and 401ks. I am retired. In effect I have had a 17% increase in income tax due to inflation due to you printing more money via the Fed. Everyone else has had this increase in income tax and most do not understand it.
They have a 10X profit margin and yet a 25% tariff is a game changer?
The over capacity will end up here as has always been the case.

Does she mean the evil Americans ..some who occupied America since the 1700’s.. or the good Americans who walked across our borders..from God only knows where..months or even weeks or days ago?

Ironically, Trump only threatened tariff’s and the targeted nations dropped theirs!
